It is a body of business and professional people, who range from major corporations to small medium enterprises to sole traders. All working together in the interests of trade, industry, commerce and the general community  to make their town or city and the province of Southland a better place to do business. It represents the people who are concerned about improving and promoting  business in Southland and New Zealand.

Objectives of the Chamber  of Commerce Southland

• To promote, and encourage the development of Southland so as to attract regional development along with trade, tourists, visitors and population.
• To encourage and promote commerce, (both international and domestic), business, industry, education, research, development and employment.
• To encourage business networking among members.
• To represent the business community in any important matter locally and internationally.
• To develop co-operation and encourage common policies amongst New Zealand exporters and to be of assistance to exporters in facilitating and improving  export procedures and skills.
• To generally watch over and protect the interests, rights and privileges of members and to be responsible for the needs of members and their various  interest groups, representing them, their issues and concerns
