The Pypers have been growing and marketing potatoes for 36 years. Branxholme has been their base for operations since 1972. During that time they have become well known for producing a superior product.
Alison Holst, New Zealand's most successful and well-known food show host and writer, says that "Pyper's of Southland, produce the best tasting potatoes in New Zealand".

This view has been confirmed through Pypers achieving national recognition with the Roger Davies Award for Innovation, and 'Turning dreams into reality'.
The Pypers run their business as a team operation with everyone involved, informed and responsible for various integral sectors of the operation.

Potato varieties successfully grown by the Pyper family are 'Nadine", "Desire" and "Van Rose'.
At present 6,500 tonnes of potatoes are grown throughout Southland to meet domestic and export markets. Potatoes are washed and graded and presented for market in immaculate condition.
12,000 tonnes of carrots makes up the large volume of quality produce from Pypers. While they grow part of their crop on the property at Branxholme, other land is leased around Southland to get optimum crop rotation and the area needed to produce the volume which meets growing market demands.
Pypers are extending and diversifying crops to include 'Yams', a sweet potato. This will be grown on a trial basis to see if soil, climate and conditions, suit the variety and product and quality Pypers are known for.
