Pypers Produce have been growing and marketing potatoes for 36 years. Branxholme has been their base for operations since 1972. During that time they have become well known for producing a superior product.
As from August 2007 the business has new Directors, Brendon Hamilton and Brent Lamb, with Nelson Pyper still having an interest in the business.
At present 6,500 tonnes of potatoes are grown throughout Southland to meet domestic and export markets. Potatoes are washed, graded and presented for market in immaculate condition. Varieties successfully grown are ?Nadine?, ?Desiree? and ?Van Rosa?. Alison Holst, New Zealand?s most successful and well-known food show host and writer says ?Pypers of Southland produce the best tasting potatoes in New Zealand?.
12,000 tonnes of carrots adds to the large volume of quality produce from Pypers. While they grow part of their crops on the property at Branxholme, other land is leased around Southland to get optimum crop rotation and the area needed to produce the volume necessary to meet growing market demands.
